Electric Drive Train is the culmination of 5 years effort after meeting Australian guitar legend Jim Kelly at a masterclass. Jim and I worked with his session crew Scott, Greg and Tim to record these tunes.

The Electric Drive Train single needed a bit more work to make it rock so I engaged Michael Beinhorn as Executive Producer (credits including Soundgarden, Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson). That turned into its own 2 year journey for lots of good reasons.

Along the way, I built a studio and gathered a posse of supportive industry folks who’ve helped enormously: Pete O’Donohue of Orthius Guitars, Pete Reynolds 0f Valveart Amplifiers, Steve Cunningham “Man of Pedals” and Maddy Jones “build me a (studio) wall ;-]”.
We capped the project off with 10 x Grammy winner Mixer F Reid Shippen and Mastering legend Gavin Lurssen.

SINGLE: AIN'T NO SUNSHINE
Thanks to Jim Kelly for production and rhythm guitars on this one. It took us a while, we wanted to do something different with this beautiful standard from Bill Withers. It was recorded about 2 years before his passing.
In some ways, I wanted a yardstick to see where my vocals and guitar playing were at. And I really get where Bill Withers was coming from with this song. The complexities of love, loss and longing.
Amazingly groovy work from Scott Hills on drums, Greg Lyon on Bass and Tim Neill on Hammond organ.

This instrumental tune fell into my hands one day as I was noodling around. I kept following my instincts and ended up with something I really love end to end.
The Celtic feel connects to my ancestral roots and makes it accessible to non guitar heads! I've played it live for a friend's funeral and it was used at my own Dad's funeral a couple of years back. It was part of the celebration of life rather than the grieving as you can hear if you listen below.

BEHIND THE PASSION
I've been a lover of music since I was a wee lad!
Started with a stack of vinyl singles gifted to me by my uncle (later albums as well - thanks Geoff).
When I heard the solo from Deep Purple's Highway Star, album: Machine Head - you know, the one with Smoke on the Water, I was hooked on guitar.
I've been in love with the instrument ever since and have been playing in bands for many years.
This EP "Electric DriveTrain" is my first solo effort after a long break.
